The Martian Landscapes
16 Dec 2017 - 27 Jan 2018, Gallery Joey Ramone
Reading The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury, I was struck by the all the colours spread across the pages. Bradbury imagines a strange planet with familiar elements in different colours and textures. Bradbury describes the martians doing their everyday routines and although a bit exotic the major difference lies in the use of colour and their visual telepathy.
The position of the words for colours on the pages is the baiss from which the drawings are made. In the few cases that no colours are mentioned, the colours flow over from the neighbouring pages. Each chapter is made into a drawing. The chronicles are turned into landscapes that lead you into a new imagined world
